Tampiquito one year later!

I just got back from the Festival Nrmal in Monterrey where I had a show with the Equipo Plastico.

I took advantage of my trip to go back to Tampiquito, visit my friends and take pictures of the paintings I did one year ago. Some of them are exactly the same, others disappeared and others stayed intact while everything around them changed!

Before posting our full report of the show on equipoplastico.com I will leave you with some comparative before and after photos of my residency in Tampiquito.

The “Ropa de Trabajo” Project!

After so many painting projects throughout the years, I now have a huge collection of paint stained work clothes. Since I have been doing many recently I came up with a new idea.

As an experiment, I started the “Ropa de Trabajo” project to create another interactive experience. It seemed incredible to me how quickly my clothes were covered in paint. I realized it could be another way to create something that evolves on it’s own without controlling the final result. As in many of my projects during the past few years, I found it interesting the delegation of the role of the artist as spectator in the creation of his own artwork.

I started the “Ropa de Trabajo” project during the exhibition “Murals” at the Fundacion Miro, in Barcelona from February 10th to the 18th of this year. This is the first “R.D.T.”experiment I have done, I’ll start the next one in Mexico tomorrow…

“Murals” represents a meeting point and a creative space for mural painters of our time. The Foundation invited ten artists who come from as far as West Africa, Mexico and the United States as well as Europe to work on the walls of the temporary exhibition area.

ARCO 2010 with Martin Lejarraga

I had the pleasure to work for the second time with Martin Lejarraga, a very interesting architect from Cartagena. His studio was working on the creation of an “Art Collector’s Caravan” and he invited me to paint over it.

If you happen to be in Madrid this week end, the caravan will be exhibited at the Region Murcia stand at ARCO International Contemporary Art Fair.

I had an amazing time painting with Nuria at the Fundacion Miro thanks to a perfect organization and very great artists.
Yesterday was the official opening and I just uploaded today a 6 days time-lapse video of our mural making-off.

I’ve been invited alongside fellow artist Nuria Mora to participate in “Murals”, a big show about mural painters at the Fundació Miró in Barcelona. It’s a real honor for us to be exhibiting our work in such a prestigious museum and to paint on the walls of Josep Lluís Sert’s Building…

The opening will be on Thursday February 18th and we will give a conference about our work on the 19th at 15h30.

The New papers number 2 is out now and they invited me to do the front cover!!!
