POP. Rua Virgilio de Carvalho Pinto 297,

Sao Paulo. Brazil

18.12.2007 – 18.01.2008
Art exhibition of french artist, displaying a selection of his new artworks.
Eltono presents a well intended conversation between the street art and the gallery art. Artwork made out of collected materials around the dumps of Sao Paulo is to be reproduced maintaining the originals in the streets of the city.

The paintings on the boards are reversed interpretations of original artworks painted in the public space.
The parallel created between the original painting and the board questions the confrontation between exterior/interior. The inverted paintings, where Eltono’s shapes are suggested by the emptiness, are made with the idea to respect the original artwork without repeating it or falsifying it.
The emptiness reinforces the idea that the interior piece doesn’t mean anything without the exterior one.
The reversal shapes emphasize the opposition that exists between an exhibition place and the street and focus on the dilemma to show street art in a gallery.

There is only one “reversed” for each original piece.

Each board come with a signed certificate with an original picture of the outside piece that says:

“The painting done on this board is a reversal interpretation of an original artwork painted in public space. There is onlPOP. Rua Virgilio de Carvalho Pinto 297,
